Job Summary:

Responsible for the setting up, prepping, and painting application to a wide variety of production parts, sub-assemblies, or completed units.  This is a direct labor role within the designated department that also supports all aspects of the Paint Department.  A fast-paced, quality-oriented and team focused employee is needed due to the dynamic environment of this work area.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High School education or GED equivalent is required
  • Previous paint experience preferred

Skills:

  • Knowledge of powder paint systems and application including:
    • Powder materials, types, properties, storage, and handling
    • Cleaning and pretreatment systems, chemistry, testing, monitoring maintenance and regulatory requirements
    • Conveyance systems and maintenance
    • Powder coating application equipment, techniques, maintenance, and troubleshooting
    • Part masking and hanging techniques focused on quality, line density, and optimal transfer efficiency
    • Dry off and Cure oven set up, maintenance and monitoring
    • Overall automated system maintenance and troubleshooting
    • Rework techniques and processes
    • Packaging
  • Ability to read blueprints and work instructions
  • Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions, short correspondence, process and procedural documentation, prints as well as information contained in job routers
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Knowledge of inspection processes and systems controls

  • Understanding of Material Properties including Flatness, Surface Grades, Types, Gauge, etc.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follows all safety policies and procedures in the performance of duties; utilizes good practice methods for continuous improvement
  • Apply powder coat paint to production parts as required ensuring customer quality requirements are met
  • Wear proper and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties
  • Move freely to any paint line function to maximize production flow and overall efficiency which includes, but not limited to, masking, hanging, painting, packaging, and staging work
  • Work well as a positive team member in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
  • Competent understanding of paint processes and set up ability for all equipment, systems, and tools throughout the assigned department
  • Thorough understanding of paint processes and systems including chemical systems, testing and monitoring, part masking and hanging techniques, standard work documentation, paint application, and all aspects of paint quality testing and documentation
  • Must be able to work from job ticket, manuals, or verbal instructions
  • Freely move to any area within the process, proactively work to maximize production in a team environment 
  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition, following industry and Dalsin best practices
  • Notify Manager of concerns when help is needed
  • Use appropriate tools and equipment necessary to perform the job, including inspection equipment
  • Collaborates to identify and implement ways to improve overall performance within area of responsibility using continuous improvement methods

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Setup and Operate manual or semi-automatic spot-welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as resistance, projection, and CD welding
  • Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or foreign matter
  • Determine required equipment and spot-welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques
  • Clamp or hold component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
  • Remove rough spots from workpieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straight edges or templates to ensure conformance with specification
  • Monitor the spot welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material
  • Select and install tips according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals
  • Notify manager of faulty operation of equipment or if defective materials are detected
  • Layout, position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.  Clean or degrease parts, using wire brushes, portable grinders or chemical baths
  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required
  • Position and secure material, using hoists, cranes, and banding machines or hand tools
  • Check grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to work with primary materials:  mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel

  • Efficiently deploy electro-mechanical and test equipment to assemble, wire and test product utilizing sheet metal prints, electrical schematics and test procedures and equipment.
  • Assemble components, make wiring connections and test using provided hand tools, pneumatic tools, electrical/electronic tools and related equipment.
  • Accurately route, connect, fasten and secure wires per diagrams or work instructions.
  • Move freely to any function within the environment to maximize production flow and overall efficiency.
  • Work well as a positive team member in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Effective performance requires a deep working knowledge of jobs and workflow in your assigned department
  • Detail orientation, eye and hand coordination, mechanical ability, electrical/wiring ability and ability to follow specific testing and documentation procedures including product tracking and serialization.
